When I see examples of Mebeam, like on Youtube for example, the window shows a larger video window that is centered.
When I start a room, the vid is small and at the top left.
If I zoom in, the quality suffers, of coarse, but then I cannot see the text without moving the screen to peak at what is typed.
Maybe something is not optimized for my screen resolution?
(LCD screen set at max res)
This makes it not very practical for 2 people chatting.

Yes, a user needs to read the Mebeam Help and FAQ.
Note: (from the Mebeam Help):
Mebeam is still in heavy development, so the layout
and options may change back and forth...

The Old Style (Original) Mebeam is (still) using a larger video.
