hi everyone
i know i don't did any comments till now but i am following this project since the prealpha and it has a huge potential to become as big or even bigger as myspace.
i found this project while i was exactly looking for this kind of service on the internet.
so here is why i bring in myself now for the first time.
many people are sitting in front of the internet and while beeing borred they do some myspace sites or other things because they can'T find anyone to talk to.
so why don't bring in a feature that shows people a list of the most used public mb-rooms right now.
a public room could be any begining with an # (for example: #publicroom).
to prevent those rooms from being spammed or flashed by some drunk naughty russians, the person beeing longest in this room should have the rights as kicking people.
or even easier would be a button "create public room"
i think that might increase the popularity of this service a lot.
those sites should be listed on a subdomain as public.mebeam.com.
the only thing bad i can think of are the higher costs.

Welcome to this forum.
I moved this topic to the General section, no problem.
The suggestions you offered, are known and already been
tried in the past. There are not only positive sites on these
things, that has been proven already, but some of them
will have a comeback.
The problems are, that in what way you want it to go, a
real working admin / moderation mechanism is difficult to
implement but might be there in the near future in one or
another way. The way it works now, any room is a public
room. Later on there will be (real) private rooms too.
As long as there is no admin facility, making a list of public
rooms will only attract certain people who are pestering
others with all kind of abuse. I can advice you all, to just
create your own room and invite your friends into it.
When you choose a good name like mikey468tard it would
have less problems to be intruded by others.
Development is going on, but priorities in solving problems
before further enhancements can be expected.

i do understand those reasons and that mebeam stuff wants to protect theire users, but i ment to only show those room which begin with a special sign so they are declarated as public-rooms.
this room is on that list: #room1
this is not: room1
so the creator (and owner if there are admin right) can choose either to show it on that list or not.
but you mentioned that there already had been such ideas and concepts that didn't work out yet.
anyway this is a grate project and i would like to support you.

You are welcome!
That it is not supported at this moment, will not say that it will
not be back in one or another way!
We have had already for test the $roomname and #roomname
But you could understand that when having a private room,
there must me more programmed into Mebeam to "secure" it
from being used when the room is in use already. Or when a
room should be real private (= owned / hired)...
Anyway, there are already plans made for it, but not ready yet.
