Reformatted my whole puter....tried all manner of fixes....nothing in any Wigi/Vwho build wants to work at all....

Strangely....all other applications work fine....

Am able to view the running videos on vwho . net but as no part of wigi/vwho will recognize my cam....cant go any further...

This is an issue I'm almost sure with Dual-core functionality....as i dont have any problems on my single-core Dell Inspiron laptop.

Anyone elso have a dual-core processor that may be experiencing anything similar?

Hi,

I just restarted my PC with Hyperthreading enabled on my P4 to test VWHO (it is usually disabled because my HP scanner s/w doesn't like it!).

VWHO tested fine.

Don't know if that helps

Thanks for that danny, I agree there are some
not-before bugs in this wigi series. The cam
detect is a problem I'll look at first..

Can see and hear the displayed videos of others but still no capture of local webcam....

Sorry Ashod.....no good here...

Kevin,
Yes. The first week I had the dual core it worked fine....but since then it just wont recognize wigiwigi as a cam capture device (or whatever).

SK*** and MSN & YAHOO & others work fine...

I had a chat with a yound programmer here who suggested that it might be an "affinity" problem....but with no exe file I couldnt try to run it only on only one of the cores

Hi Dangur,

I would recommend to re-install (the most recent) mainboard
chipset drivers, AMD cpu driver (v1.3) and at last the webcam
drivers. To see if that helps, because it DID work at first.

Danny,

I would recommend downloading Eric's webcam application and seeing if you can choose the Philips cam then Wigi may recognize it. It has worked for me and for Brian (see his post here http://www.wigiwigi.com/view_topic.php?id=508&forum_id=4)

Yes, I tried that Kevin, thanks....and his program doesnt recognize my cam either...strange how almost all other apps like skype, msn, yahoo etc still work fine....

I think it must be something in the build of the program that isnt figuring out dual-core functionality....but being a n00b....i have no idea

Exactly how would i re-install the mainboard chipset driver....and by doing so would it likely affect any other part of the system?

Removed and re-installed webcam drivers repeatedly....even though about using the hard drive as a trampoline.....I know a tradesman who fixes everything with his hammer

Hi Dangur,

No. it does NOT affect other system things...

I assume you did not have a pre-installed system,
because in that case you could recover it to the
original state. If you bought parts and installed it
yourself, you should know that there are drivers
needed for the mainboard's chipset. Anyway, you
should know what mainboard you have, otherwise
take a look at the results from p.e. Everest.

Common AMD compatible chipsets are from NVidia
and VIA and the like. In all cases you should have
some knowledge how to do it right, if you do not,
you better should have bought a preinstalled system
and make backups...

Then download the most recent chipset driver from
the manufacturer and just install it. The same is for
the CPU-driver, in this case AMD. Look at this link:
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_13118,00.html

Actually it is a pre-installed system and i used the built in PC Doctor to roll it back to it's out-of the-box state

Doing so...I would have presumed that this would have solved the problems....however it did not.

I am not confident enough to make the required backups or know what to do precisely....thanks anyhow...

Can I just download the most recent chipset driver and install it over the top of the existing one?

Hi Dangur,

Yes, you can !
If you have the NVidia NForce4 chipset:
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
Check platform/nForce drivers, then NForce4 AMD etc.

When you install the webcam driver, unplug the webcam
and de-install and re-install before you plug the webcam
in again...
