I have been able to contact my friend using his IP address and wigiHQ.exe but he cannot call me.
I have gone to the command prompt, typed ipconfig and seen my IP address which has two sets of three numbers then two single numbers like 123.123.1.1 whereas his IP address has four sets of three numbers.
I also have a Gateway address of four sets of three numbers but this does not allow hin to call me.
I have a Belkin router. This shows the same IP address like 123.123.1.1
Where is my IP address shown with four sets of three numbers?

Try the website What is my IP.
There is a chance that your router is the problem. With Wigi HQ it seems that no one can contact me, I always have to call them - something to do with the NAT firewall.

Hello Wickam.
Welcome to this forum.
An IP address consists just of 4 sets of numbers.
Like 210.166.1.10 or 84.55.1.1
At system command level you can use: ipconfig /all
Better to check with a browser: http://www.whatismyip.com/
that one will give you your needed WAN-IP address.
Perhaps you also need to portforward UDP port 43690.

Hi Wickham - best wishes for 2006!
The IP number you need to use is probably not shown using ipconfig, you need to know the "outside" IP number (I am guessing you have a NAT router or similar, not familiar with the belkin)
You might use
http://www.watismijnip.nl/
To show your outside IP. (hope it works outside holland as well - there are various websites like this).
Furthermore, port 43690 needs to be forwarded in the router, otherwise you are unreachable anyway.
Typically the port must be forwarded to the inside IP number of you PC - this is the one you find in IPconfig. Don't worry about the numbers - what you expect to see is 4 groups of numbers, each number between 0 and 255 ("FF" in hex). (so a single number is very well possible)
Edit: I love this forum! I see a single call for help, type my answer - and in the time it took to type it, several other (possibly better ) answers came in. Is this forum alive or what!

Thanks - I will get him to try it. But he is in NZ so probably asleep now.
The IP given was nothing like the IP given by ipconfig!
Good video - better than Skype, much better than Festoon but same as Spontania.

Well, Spontania can give a decent picture, but
the definition of video is more than pictures.
Photosharing is not video
Try out the speed of Wigiwigi, moving and waving.

I changed my signature, in a way everyone must be able to see his own ip.
Whe have a member who did that before.
But it was gone after the forum changes.
But it fills in a 'need' here.

Another question please.
In my Belkin router options I have Application Gateways and Virtual Servers - which do I use for port 43690?
Is it TCP or UDP?
If it is in Application Gateways, what is the trigger port?
Virtual Servers gives LAN IP address (my internal IP that I found in ipconfig), Protocol type TCP or UDP or both, LAN port (I don't think this applies) and Public port (43690).

| Since I have already had several good calls, perhaps I do not need to open port 43690, the problem was that I could call my friend because I knew his IP but he could not call me because I did not know my IP.

Please read the above post of mine.
It said clearly UDP port 43690.
No trigger port needed, but your router's manual
should be of any help.
There are too much differences.
LAN port applies! it should be your LOCAL IP
if you are on a LAN.
Note: The one who is calling does not need a
forwarded port, the one who is receiving does.

My Belkin info lists my external IP address, it was one of the many others and shown as WAN IP.
Note: The one who is calling does not need a
forwarded port, the one who is receiving does.
I did not realise that, but since he did not know my IP address that was the main reason for failure.
LAN port applies! it should be your LOCAL IP
if you are on a LAN. This is confusing me.
So if I enter the following in Virtual Servers it should be right?
LAN IP address 192.168.2 (this is shown already) and I enter 1 in the box to complete the address
Protocol: UDP
LAN port: should this be 1 to complete my local IP 192.168.2.1 or 43690? The window will not accept the full IP of 192.168.2.1
Public port: 43690

If somebody "calls" you - your WAN (external) IP is used.
Now your Belking is required to transport the incoming stuff to port 43690. The Belkin needs to transport the data to your PC - but which one? You need to tell your Belkin to which internal (LAN) IP the stuff is to be delivered.
(LAN IP's are like internal telephone numbers in e.g. an office; the WAN IP is comparable to the company telephone number the "outside" customers are using)
Attached the settings I use. I employ 4 computers in my house, with LAN IP's ranging 192.168.123.101 to 104. My hobbyroom PC is 103 obviously.
If there is no place to add the port number 43690, *all* ports are forwarded to the indicated IP no. This also works, but is a lot less secure. My Speedtouch home modem worked this way, and is now replaced by the Tornado 840 of which the screenshot is made.
Hope this helps!

The given screenshot tells how it should be on a
linksys router, you can clearly see what is preset
and what you should fill in.
The WAN IP is your address to the outside world,
so that the outside world can contact you and the
router needs to now where on the LAN is has to
send the data from the forwarded port.
