The confusing thing about Belkin is that there are three windows.

LAN IP is the one like your's: 192.168.2.1; the public port is 43690 but there is another box for LAN port. I think this refers to a physical port like a com port or a printer port so I have just put in 1 there at present and will test with my contact tomorrow.

If I understand correctly, the Belkin distinguishes between public ports (WAN) and Private ports (for LAN). This is useful if multiple computers / servers need to be reached by multiple users from the outside.

You do not want that - just enter 43690 both for public and private (or whatever name they use)

I can fire up WigiHQ if you like. (otherwise try Ben or Willem - they are always on duty 24/7/365 - they really never sleep )

IP is in the sig.

If all fails - just make a screenshot of the configuration screen.

My NZ contact has woken up, he cannot call me but I can call him.

I've set my Belkin router to my IP address 192.168.2.1 and both LAN ports and public ports to 43690 but still no good.

My Belkin router is ADSL Moem with Built-in Wireless Router 802.11g ver. 1212uk.  Another number is F5D7630uk4A.

Luckily we can call as long as I call him. Since our IP addresses change every time we boot up we always have to Skype chat first to exchange IPs so it is not a big problem to decide who calls who, but I would like to solve the problem.

When I check my IP it gives the main one which changes each time but underneath it says "proxy detected is 213.40.67.66" and this is the same every day. Is this relevant to my problem?

Stupid question: I need to reset my modem before settings take effect - same with yours? LAN IP correct? (not different now due to e.g. DHCP)

Hi Wickam,

OK, You sent the screenshot from your router.
It seems fine but, is the given IP 192.168.2.1
your local IP from your PC (see ipconfig), or is
it the IP from your router what's now filled-in?

192.168.2.X where X is the number from the PC.

Willem

I have discovered from http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Belkin/F5D7630/default.htm

that I need a static IP address before portforwarding but this computer was set on automatic.

My Belkin router settings showed 192.168.2.1 which was what I used for the port setting but this computer in CMD shows 192.168.2.2 (and my W98 computer shows 192.168.2.3) both on automatic IP.

I set a static IP and altered the port setting to suit 192.168.2.2 but my contact still cannot call me.

The site above gives my external IP as the proxy address 213.40.67.66 which doesn't seem to alter each time I boot up, not the main external IP of 213.40.144.130 which varies. Which should wigiwigi callers use?

I have found another wigiwigi contact with a router who also can make calls but not receive them, so is this a bug?

Hi Wickam,

Wigi-HQ is not NAT friendly at the moment.
Nothing we can do about that now, the next
release will have more friendly options however.

It is a fact that Port Forwarding is only useful
when setting your PC's to static IP. Logic,
isn't it ? It is also more difficult to call with an
IP, when this changes often... Also logic.

That a lot of people are also using all kind of
software firewalls is also logic, but what's very
important: that they need to set therein Wigi
to be able to use in- and outgoing ports.
Try to disable the firewall temporary and check.

Otherwise, just wait till the connection server
of Wigi1 is up and running again.

I think my router settings are OK now as my Australian contact made a good call to me but my call to him failed probably because his router has not been re-set.

The call we did have failed after a few minutes but at least the connection was made.

...the 192.168.2.1 ...by default this ip address is the standard communication IP to your Belkin router to add or change any ;)

it seems you have forward your own router IP to external

don't forward the 192.168.2.1 to external  !!! check that !!!

The site above gives my external IP as the proxy address 213.40.67.66 which doesn't seem to alter each time I boot up, not the main external IP of 213.40.144.130 which varies. Which should wigiwigi callers use?

don't use: the proxy or gateway IP you will get from your ISP  ...only your WAN IP .

the rules to forward:

any or WAN IP:with PORT --> to your local IP:with PORT (incoming)
your local IP:with PORT  -->  to any or WAN IP:with PORT (outgoing)

.. your Belkin router maybe there is a newer firmware or good manual

All OK now for me with this computer's IP of 192.168.2.2 and port 43690 set.

NZ calls good both ways. Australian can call me but I cannot call him but his router has not been set for portforwarding yet.

Thanks for your help.

I now have to set my W98 computer to static IP although it works OK, it still seems to be allocated 192.168.2.3 which is different to XP computer.

We have tried mulwigi1 but prefer wig_HQ which has better resolution. Wigiwigiy server still down.
